KK Wind Solutions:
QualiWare is our management system and onboarding tool in one

KK Wind Solutions was founded in 1978 and is a leading supplier of electrical systems, components, and services for wind turbines worldwide.

The company has a strong focus on innovation and sustainability and is committed to developing solutions that reduce the environmental impact of the wind industry. Like many other companies in the sustainable energy sector, KK Wind Solutions prospers due to the increasing demand for renewable energy.

This leads to new employees joining the company, new markets opening up, and many other activities. All of this is reflected in KK Wind Solutions' management system, which is built using QualiWare.

KK Wind Solutions has been a QualiWare customer for two decades.

More and more processes to manage

"We have more and more processes that we need to manage," Sandra Podgajna says.

She is a senior engineer in the QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) Business Systems and Processes Team at KK Wind Solutions.

Together with her team she is responsible for running the management system and helping all her colleagues in KK Wind Solutions build their processes using QualiWare.

Sandra has been with KK Wind Solutions for three years now – ever since she got her degree as a chemical engineer.

Quickly, she became a QualiWare expert, and is always looking for more functionality in the system and keeping close contact with QualiWare's consultant to discuss new opportunities.

"I enjoy the meetings with QualiWare's consultant. He has great experience, and the quality of the advice he gives is excellent," Sandra says.

One entry point for all

KK Wind Solutions' management system is vast and complex. Sandra and her team's focus is on making it a single point of entry for all the organization's documentation, policies, procedures, instructions, forms, and guidelines.

And there are quite a few of those. The system contains the many standards and rules the employees of KK Wind Solutions must comply with, and the organization has more than 1300 QualiWare licenses, Sandra explains.

Objects and user-friendliness

According to Sandra, one aspect of Qualiware truly stands out, and helps explain why she thinks of it as such a user-friendly tool:

That aspect is the object-oriented modelling approach used when modelling processes in QualiWare. This is because such an approach provides an easy overview of all the content in the management system and how it is related. This is indeed a contrast to walls of text with process descriptions, says Sandra.

She really likes the links between the objects because they make it easy to track all the data in the system.

Sandra explains that the management system helps the whole organization live up to standards and regulations, which are relevant to the company. On top of that, it makes onboarding new colleagues as well as regular daily work much smoother and easier.

An excellent tool for onboarding

Sandra sees the management system in QualiWare as a valuable tool for onboarding new colleagues because it provides structure, consistency, and support throughout the entire onboarding process:

Because roles and processes are described in the management system, new colleagues can quickly understand the organization, the expectations and requirements of their new role, and how to perform the various tasks consistently.

When a new employee logs into the management system, apart from the main dashboard, the personal dashboard is enabled to show content that is relevant to this specific employee.

According to Sandra, this feature makes it much easier for everyone to keep an overview of their processes and tasks.

No walls of text
Furthermore, instead of forcing new employees to deal with walls of text, the object-oriented flowcharts in the management system provide a fantastic way of describing things, Sandra says.

Furthermore, instead of forcing new employees to deal with walls of text, the object-oriented flowcharts in the management system provide a fantastic way of describing things, Sandra says.

New employees are immediately able to get an overview of who is responsible for what in the organization.

New employees are presented with a list of procedures in which they will be involved and therefore should be familiar with.

In the management system tool, the new employee can use the acknowledge feature to confirm that they have read and understood everything.

"They don't need to know every detail of the process. But they need to know about it so that they can refer to it when needed, " Sandra explains.

The onboarding procedure saves KK Wind Solutions a lot of time and money and ensures that everyone is always on the same page.
